Heaven faces annihilation in six hours, and angel Cassiel’s only useful advantage is a watch that lets him meddle with time. The Holy Gosh Darn is a comedy-driven narrative adventure that treats biblical mythology, cosmic catastrophe, and the afterlife with gleeful disrespect. Its journey moves between Heaven, Hell, Earth, and Helheim, where every location can look and function differently depending on when Cassiel visits. The mood is absurd, fast-talking, and knowingly silly, but the looming invasion of spectral enemies gives the jokes a satisfying sense of urgency.

Cassiel gathers clues in one era, then uses that knowledge to change conversations, solve problems, and unlock routes in another. Rather than relying on reflex-heavy combat, the game focuses on dialogue, exploration, environmental puzzles, and working out which event in the past creates the answer needed in the present or future. Progress has a light Metroidvania structure: new information and access open previously blocked paths, while the player gradually untangles a huge chain of cause and effect. A built-in ability to hurry characters along also keeps repeat conversations and time-sensitive investigations from dragging, which is especially useful when revisiting timelines.

Perfectly Paranormal brings the same offbeat sensibility seen in Manual Samuel and Helheim Hassle, combining cartoonish animation, physical comedy, and deliberately ridiculous writing with a surprisingly intricate puzzle framework. Cassiel meets warped versions of religious figures, trades insults with Heavenly Elders, and encounters an almost suspiciously specific number of dogs, though petting them is apparently beyond even angelic power. The central appeal comes from seeing how small pieces of dialogue or forgotten details reverberate across eras, making each new revelation feel like both a punchline and a key. Fans of witty point-and-click adventures such as The Stanley Parable, Deponia, or classic LucasArts-style puzzlers should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers benefit from its accessible controls and generous focus on story over mechanical precision.
