Progress depends less on difficult puzzles or combat mastery than on following visual storytelling and absorbing the significance of what Ella finds. The game remains a focused single-player experience, with its changing roles and scenes providing variety across a comparatively concise story.

Its defining feature is the artwork. Rather than aiming for clean, conventional 3D realism, the stage worlds look as though they are formed from thick paint, loose brushwork, and vivid splashes of colour, reflecting the imperfect, emotional nature of recollection and performance. The contrast between the muted theatre and Chardish’s extravagant creations gives the journey a strong sense of place, even when individual gameplay segments are simple.
