An alien treasure hunter crosses a fractured version of Earth where archaeological expeditions turn into high-speed firefights. Combat revolves around the Traveler’s defining power: freezing time, then releasing it when the moment is right. Pausing the action lets you evade incoming fire, reposition around enemies, line up shots, and negotiate hazards or puzzles that would be dangerous at normal speed. That power runs on limited energy, so it cannot simply erase every threat; running dry means returning to real-time chaos and dealing with whatever has closed in. Rather than offering another shooter built solely around reflexes, Timerunner makes battlefield control its central challenge. The contrast between civilized daytime combat zones and bizarre nighttime creature encounters gives the campaign an unusual identity, while the globe-trotting artifact hunt supplies a clear forward drive. Its time-stop mechanic has shades of games like F.E.A.R. and Superhot, though the emphasis here is on a finite tactical resource rather than permanent slow-motion empowerment.
