The mood is grim and melodramatic, full of religious conflict, doomed romance, clan politics, and the constant question of what remains of a man after immortality takes hold.

Its biggest strength is the way it treats the World of Darkness as a centuries-spanning tragedy instead of merely a modern vampire setting. Medieval Prague and Vienna give way to contemporary London and New York, creating a memorable contrast between ancient superstition and modern urban decay. The presentation and controls show their age, but the storytelling ambition, clan flavor, and party-based action give it an identity few vampire RPGs match. Fans of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, classic BioWare-style party RPGs, and brooding gothic fiction find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers should arrive ready for a distinctly late-1990s interface and combat rhythm.
