Battles feel like a digital tabletop war, but they move fast enough to demand constant attention.

Players construct faction decks from 12 nations and roughly 750 period-appropriate units, then call in tanks, infantry, reconnaissance vehicles, artillery, helicopters, supply trucks, and fixed-wing aircraft using reinforcement points. Success depends on reading terrain, scouting enemy positions, managing ammunition and fuel, protecting supply lines, and coordinating combined arms instead of simply sending the strongest units forward. Air power changes the rhythm dramatically, as bombers and strike fighters can crack a defensive line but are vulnerable to layered anti-aircraft coverage and interceptors. The dynamic campaign gives solo players a strategic map to contest, while skirmishes and multiplayer matches let commanders experiment with specialized decks and different battlefield approaches.

What separates AirLand Battle from many RTS games is its intimidating scale paired with unusually granular unit behavior: weapon range, optics, armor angles, stealth, morale, and terrain all matter. Huge maps make reconnaissance essential, rewarding patient flanking maneuvers and punishing players who rely on a single deathball. Online battles support up to 20 participants, making 10-versus-10 clashes feel closer to an unpredictable modern military exercise than a conventional RTS match.
