Drinking the wasteland’s prized Booze grants Hangovers, strange mutation-like effects that can dramatically alter a build, offering useful bonuses alongside unpredictable complications. Death carries meaningful consequences, so each trip demands a balance between pressing deeper for better equipment and retreating before a bad fight wipes out your progress.

WASTED stands apart by treating the post-apocalypse as a deranged pub crawl rather than a grim survival simulator. Its stylized retro-future presentation, punky attitude, item descriptions, and booze-powered character customization give it a personality closer to Borderlands’ irreverence filtered through a permadeath dungeon crawler. The randomized Coolers and shifting Hangovers make repeated runs feel different, even when failure is frequent. Players who enjoy first-person roguelikes, dark comedy, and the risk-reward loop of pushing one room farther than they should find plenty to like, while newcomers should be ready to learn through messy, alcohol-fueled deaths.
