A cursed board game turns familiar Dead by Daylight survivors into tiny, heavily armed adventurers fighting for an escape through hostile fantasy arenas. What the Fog is a fast, approachable two-player roguelite that trades asymmetrical horror for chaotic top-down action, platforming, and monster-heavy runs. Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min bring recognizable personality to the cast, but the tone is more playful and arcade-like than frightening. The result feels built for a short session with a friend: frantic, silly, and full of moments where a clean plan collapses under a screen packed with enemies.

Each run asks two players to push through randomized stages, blast through swarms, leap over dangerous gaps, locate Generators, and open the route onward. Enemies, bosses, and environmental hazards constantly pressure the team, while earned Bloodpoints and activated Generator runes feed into upgrades that shape each character’s developing build. Cooperation matters beyond simply sharing firepower, since partners can select complementary abilities and still contribute after being downed until a revival becomes possible. Eight difficulty settings make the basic shooting and movement accessible for newcomers, while higher levels demand sharper positioning, better upgrade choices, and stronger communication.

Its strongest idea is the way Dead by Daylight imagery is reworked into a compact co-op roguelite rather than copied wholesale. Generators, Bloodpoints, escape doors, and survivor characters give the action a clear identity, while the cute, miniature presentation keeps failure from feeling punishing. Randomized layouts and upgrade combinations provide reason to return, although the focus remains on replayable runs rather than a deep narrative campaign. Fans of Vampire Survivors-style enemy pressure, light platforming, and games such as Enter the Gungeon will find an easygoing co-op alternative here, especially if they want a roguelite that welcomes less experienced players without removing the option for serious challenge.
