Cartoon fortresses become artillery battlegrounds in this offbeat turn-based strategy spin on the long-running Worms formula. Rather than fighting across loose, destructible landscapes alone, teams of heavily armed worms occupy castles, build towers, and turn each map into a compact siege war. The tone stays knowingly silly, with slapstick explosions, improbable weapons, and tiny soldiers tumbling from battlements, but the emphasis shifts toward planning positions as carefully as lining up a bazooka shot. Its fully 3D presentation gives the familiar series a distinct board-game feel, with medieval, Egyptian, and other themed arenas framing every skirmish.

Matches put you in control of up to four worms, taking turns moving them around the map, collecting weapon crates, firing artillery, and using tools to disrupt the opposition. Building is central: worms can raise defensive towers, bridges, and strongholds to claim high ground, protect their keep, or create routes toward enemy territory. Victory can come from demolishing an opposing fortress, eliminating its team, or completing construction of a powerful wonder before rivals can stop it. Weapons retain the series’ mix of practical launchers and absurd super-attacks, while wind, elevation, limited time, and destructible structures make every shot a calculated risk. Solo missions provide themed challenges and scenarios, while local multiplayer is where the chaotic rivalries and last-second reversals shine brightest.

What separates Worms Forts: Under Siege from the usual Worms entry is its combination of artillery duels and lightweight castle management. A well-placed tower can create an intimidating firing platform, yet it can also become a catastrophic liability when an enemy blast sends its occupant plunging to the ground. The 3D camera and older control scheme can feel less elegant than later series installments, but the strategic construction gives it a personality no other Worms game quite matches.
