Its tone sits closer to James Cameron’s military sci-fi than slow-burn horror, favoring sustained firefights, brutal ambushes, and squad chatter over solitary scares. The campaign sends a three-person fireteam through four operations that gradually expose the planet’s corporate and extraterrestrial secrets.

Each mission pairs advancing through tightly designed combat spaces with holding defensive positions against swarms of runners, Prowlers, Spitters, Warriors, and larger threats. Players choose a class kit with its own active abilities and team-focused perks, then build loadouts around rifles, shotguns, smartguns, pistols, and heavy weapons; weapon use also increases proficiency and unlocks attachments. Team composition matters, since a Technician’s sentry and slowing fields support chokepoints differently than a Gunner’s damage boosts, a Doc’s healing station, or a Recon’s ammunition support. Up to three players can cooperate online, while capable but limited AI Marines fill empty slots, and Challenge Cards alter runs with modifiers that can make enemies deadlier, restrict equipment, or add unusual conditions in exchange for better rewards.

What separates it from many licensed shooters is how convincingly it captures the pressure of managing a corridor, watching flanks, conserving ammo, and deciding when to fall back before the horde breaks through. The missions are relatively linear and repeat environments often, but class builds, difficulty tiers, Horde Mode, random card modifiers, and a large perk pool give committed squads reasons to replay them. Combat is punchy, enemy silhouettes are easy to read amid the chaos, and the sound design sells every shriek, pulse-rifle burst, and warning alarm. Fans of Left 4 Dead, World War Z, and Aliens’ squad-action atmosphere find a focused cooperative shooter here, while solo players should expect a tougher, less flexible experience with AI teammates.
