Most of the action revolves around switching between Jason on foot and the GAIA-SOPHIA battle tank. Leaving the vehicle shifts the camera to a top-down perspective, creating tighter combat arenas where Jason searches rooms, fights mutants with firearms and sub-weapons, and relies on the precisely timed Blast Counter to punish incoming attacks. New planets introduce different terrain challenges and enemy behaviors, while upgrades steadily expand mobility, firepower, and the ways players can revisit areas for missed secrets.

The dual-perspective design remains the main attraction: it combines the exploration structure of a Metroidvania with the punchy, stage-based momentum of classic NES action games. G-SOPHIA’s risk-and-reward energy system gives tank movement more tactical weight than simply avoiding every hit, while Jason’s counter system rewards confident close-range play. Encounters with rival pilots, their support droids, and specialized Metal Attackers add personality and boss variety to the journey, and the included DLC broadens the overall package with additional content.
