HYPNOS (v0.3)

A labyrinthine city of impossible architecture serves as the stage for a first-person adventure steeped in cosmic dread and dream logic. HYPNOS follows Choron, a wandering outsider drawn toward the Nameless City and the looming presence of Kadath, where divinities and nightmares feel equally real. His search for Matthew, a faceless child who invades his sleep, gradually becomes a personal reckoning with buried memories and the unreliable nature of reality. The mood is slow-burning, strange, and unsettling rather than action-heavy, with every corridor suggesting that the world might rearrange itself when no one is looking.

Progress comes through deliberate exploration, environmental observation, conversations, and cryptic puzzle-solving across a semi-open urban maze. Choron can follow leads in different orders, speak with dreamers, spirits, and stranger inhabitants, and make choices that influence relationships, revelations, and the eventual outcome. The city itself is part of the puzzle: hidden routes, shifting spaces, and dreamlike material transformations encourage players to question what objects and locations are capable of becoming. Encounters with the powerful Monarchs add major narrative pressure, while the central loop remains one of mapping unfamiliar spaces, interpreting clues, and deciding which version of the truth to trust.

HYPNOS stands apart through its emphasis on Lovecraft-inspired surrealism rather than familiar monster-chasing horror. Its megastructure feels less like a straightforward setting and more like a living riddle, with layered paths and cause-and-effect storytelling that reward curiosity and repeat visits. Branched dialogue and multiple endings give choices more weight than they often receive in linear walking simulators, especially for players willing to revisit key decisions and investigate overlooked corners. Fans of the eerie exploration in Myst, the oppressive city design of Pathologic, or the abstract unease of Lovecraftian fiction should find plenty to admire, though newcomers should expect ambiguity, patience, and puzzles that favor close attention over hand-holding.
