Mass Effect Andromeda (v1.10 & ALL DLC)

A 600-year voyage beyond the Milky Way turns humanity’s future into a high-stakes frontier adventure filled with hostile worlds, ancient machines, and political uncertainty. Mass Effect: Andromeda casts you as Ryder, the Pathfinder responsible for scouting viable colonies and giving several desperate species a chance to survive. Rather than revisiting Commander Shepard’s war story, it follows a new crew trying to establish itself in a galaxy where humanity is the unknown outsider. The tone balances colorful planetary discovery and crew banter with a looming mystery surrounding the alien Remnant and the dangerous Kett.

Third-person firefights are faster and more mobile than earlier Mass Effect games, with jetpack dashes, aerial attacks, cover shooting, weapons, grenades, tech abilities, and Biotic powers all feeding into aggressive combat arenas. Ryder is not locked into a traditional class, so skill points can build a sniper-focused infiltrator, a close-range shotgun Vanguard, a power-casting Adept, or a flexible hybrid; loadouts and combat profiles encourage experimenting between encounters. Exploration centers on driving the six-wheeled Nomad across large open planets, scanning resources, clearing enemy bases, solving environmental puzzles, and completing settlement tasks that improve each world’s viability. Squadmates bring their own abilities and personal missions, although they cannot be directly commanded with the tactical precision of the original trilogy.

Andromeda stands apart through its emphasis on mobility and open-ended character building: boosted jumps and freeform power combinations make every battle feel more kinetic than the cover-heavy older entries. Its worlds have a stronger sense of space than the trilogy’s mission hubs, even if some optional activities lean on familiar open-world checklists and the main plot lacks the same weight as Shepard’s best moments. The companion cast, loyalty stories, and long-running sci-fi mysteries still provide plenty of reason to push through its uneven pacing. Players who enjoy Dragon Age: Inquisition-style exploration mixed with Mass Effect shooting will find a substantial RPG here, while veterans should approach it as a looser, more experimental spin-off rather than a direct replacement for the original trilogy.
