A tiny, vulnerable creature is stranded in a ruined industrial wilderness where the weather is as lethal as the wildlife. Rain World is a harsh survival platformer built around the life of a slugcat, separated from its family after a catastrophic flood and forced to endure a world that barely notices its existence. Every journey through rusting pipes, flooded chambers, and crumbling city ruins carries a quiet sense of dread, because the next monsoon can erase any progress if shelter is not found in time.

Survival revolves around scouting routes, finding edible food, storing enough to hibernate, and reaching safe dens before the rain arrives. The slugcat has no heroic combat arsenal: it climbs, swims, crawls through tight spaces, throws rocks and spears, and uses movement, timing, and environmental awareness to escape predators. Creatures behave as parts of a living ecosystem rather than fixed obstacles; lizards stalk corridors, vultures swoop from above, scavengers react to your actions, and many animals hunt each other as readily as they hunt you. Death is frequent and often brutal, but repeated runs teach the geography, animal behavior, and subtle tricks needed to push deeper into the map. The Monk campaign offers a gentler entry point, while Hunter creates a more demanding, aggressive survival challenge, and the Arena mode adds unlockable local multiplayer stages.

What makes Rain World special is its simulation-driven world and remarkably expressive animation, which make the slugcat feel fragile, clever, and alive without relying on dialogue or scripted spectacle.
