Its tone is pure arcade intensity: colorful stages, muscular sprite work, dramatic hit effects, and rounds that can turn on one clean read. Hidden combatant Alfred adds another reward for players who enjoy digging into a classic roster.

Matches revolve around traditional four-button fighting fundamentals, but the Line Sway system gives every exchange a distinctive tactical wrinkle. Fighters shift between foreground and background lanes to evade pressure, alter attack ranges, and bait opponents into unsafe commitments, creating more movement and mind games than a typical one-plane 2D brawler. Each of the 23 characters has a clear identity, from Terry’s direct projectile-and-power-punch game to the trickier spacing, rushdown, grappling, and counter-focused specialists around him. Learning combos helps, but blocking patiently, controlling distance, and recognizing when an opponent may sway into another line matter just as much.

Modern rollback netcode is the most important upgrade, making online matches far more viable for a game originally built for arcade cabinets. Up to nine players can gather in lobbies, while single matches, double-elimination brackets, and league formats support both casual sessions and serious community competition. The hand-drawn visuals still look excellent because of their expressive animation and clean silhouettes, while the roster avoids feeling like a collection of interchangeable martial artists. Fans of Street Fighter Alpha, The King of Fighters, or Garou who want a less familiar SNK classic should find plenty to master here, though newcomers need patience with its old-school speed and demanding spacing game.
