Raccoon City is collapsing under the weight of a biological outbreak, and Jill Valentine has only one goal: escape before the streets, subways, and ruined buildings become her grave. Resident Evil 3 remakes the 1999 survival-horror classic as a fast, cinematic third-person action game, trading some of its predecessor’s slow-burn mansion dread for an urgent urban disaster story. Zombies, mutated parasites, and Umbrella’s grotesque experiments crowd every route, but the true threat is Nemesis, a towering bio-weapon built to hunt S.T.A.R.S. survivors without mercy. The mood is tense and explosive, with brief quiet stretches giving way to chases, ambushes, and spectacular set pieces.

Jill searches environments for ammunition, healing herbs, weapon upgrades, keys, and puzzle items while managing limited inventory space and deciding when enemies are worth the bullets. Combat uses over-the-shoulder shooting with familiar Resident Evil staples such as precise weak-point hits, ammo crafting, grenades, and increasingly powerful firearms, while Jill’s quick dodge adds a sharper defensive rhythm than Resident Evil 2. Most of the campaign follows a focused, linear route through devastated city districts, sewers, a hospital, and Umbrella facilities, with Carlos Oliveira becoming playable during several combat-heavy sections. Standard difficulty is approachable for newcomers, while higher settings demand cleaner aiming, stronger resource management, and more careful knowledge of enemy placements.

Nemesis gives the adventure its personality: he can burst through walls, wield weapons, mutate into enormous boss forms, and turn ordinary encounters into frantic escapes. The remake is notably shorter and more action-driven than Resident Evil 2, so its campaign works especially well as a tightly paced weekend horror ride rather than a sprawling exploration game. Included with the release is Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical online mode where four survivors attempt to escape traps, monsters, and controlled cameras set by a player acting as the Mastermind; its appeal depends heavily on finding an active community. Fans of Resident Evil 2’s remake, Dead Space’s gunplay, or cinematic survival horror should enjoy it, particularly if they value momentum and replayable challenge runs over elaborate puzzles.
